Health Professions Dean Jeffrey Thompson shared insight into the remodeling of the School of Health Professions building, highlighting how the updated space will support student success and reflect the University’s mission.
“The renovation of FranU’s Health Professions Building embodies our mission to educate and form Franciscan servant leaders by fostering an environment for students to become highly skilled professionals and integrated thinkers.”
The revamped building will feature: Expanded, flexible classroom spaces designed for student-centered learning; State-of-the-art laboratories with advanced technology; A new rehabilitation gym; A Research and Innovation Laboratory equipped with motion analysis and performance assessment tools; Comfortable study areas and common spaces.
“These enhancements ensure FranU’s Health Professions Building stands apart as a vibrant hub where education, innovation and compassion meet.”
According to Thompson, the improvements will strengthen the FranU community by:
• Providing expanded teaching and learning spaces that support hands-on clinical training and program growth.
• Offering dedicated research areas that foster evidence-based practice and innovation, supporting faculty and student scholarship.
• Increasing flexibility in classroom and lab scheduling, ensuring broader access for all students.
• Encouraging interprofessional collaboration through shared spaces that promote teamwork, an essential skill in compassionate healthcare delivery.
“By uniting health professions under one roof, we’re creating a collaborative, interdisciplinary space that reflects the realities of modern healthcare.”
