At FranU, Caroline Broussard found a support system that empowered her to turn her aspirations into reality.

“What originally drew me to FranU is the smallness of the university. I loved the idea of personally knowing all my professors and classmates!”

That sense of closeness and community became the foundation for both her faith and her future.

“I grew in my faith through my involvement in Campus Ministry. I also feel that through my time in the BAI program I was guided towards the career I am currently in as a chemist in the food industry.”

While many professors helped guide her path, one stands out in her memory for his dedication to his students and the ability to make an unpopular subject fun.

“Dr. Albert Swafford really made an impact on me not just for his sense of humor, but because of his passion for teaching and love he has for his students. He taught me the importance of being in a career that you love while also managing to somehow make a renal physiology elective my favorite class.”

After earning her degree, the alumna stepped into the world of chemistry.

“I started out working as a laboratory technician at Olin Chemical in St. Gabriel where I did chemical analysis on liquid chlorine, sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid.”

Her hard work and hands-on experience soon led to a new opportunity and a move back home.

“After gaining experience from this I have been promoted in a new role as a Chemist for Cargill in my hometown of Breaux Bridge!”
