The Franciscan Center for Professional Development is launching a new hybrid phlebotomy program that blends online learning with hands-on clinical experience. The program gives student flexible access to coursework while preparing them to step confidently into the workforce.

Starting in March, the program welcomes aspiring phlebotomists and students looking to enter the healthcare workforce to learn online and practice in-person at �������Ƶ in Baton Rouge. Students gain both theory and practical skills in blood collection, guided by experienced instructors. The program is designed to meet industry standards and prepare students for certification exams.

Faculty and clinical instructors collaborated to ensure a seamless mix of online and hands-on learning. The program also offers opportunities for partner organizations to support student cohorts and strengthen workforce pipelines.

Classes will run asynchronously online with designated lab dates prescheduled once the program begins. Tuition and application information will be available on beginning in January 2026.

Brian Rash, executive vice president of academic affairs and provost of FranU said that a cutting-edge, hybrid Phlebotomy training course offered through FranU's FCPD unites flexible online learning coupled with hands‑on, person‑centered training in our signature Simulation Teaching Hospital.

By meeting learners where they are—and where our community needs them most—we’re answering a call to serve, to heal, and to strengthen the fabric of healthcare across Baton Rouge and beyond.” Rash continued, “It also provides an excellent opportunity for our students to complete the training and enter the healthcare workforce while seeking degrees for future advancement.”
