Associate Dean of Nursing LaTonya Dorsey is a pillar in the FranU nursing programs, cultivating spaces that celebrate achievements and inspire resilience. Grounded in humility and service, she embodies the University鈥檚 mission in both word and action.

鈥淢y role allows me to create an environment where success is possible, whether that means celebrating accomplishments or providing support when outcomes fall short,鈥 Dorsey explained.

Dorsey chose nursing leadership to help others pursue their goals and navigate challenges. As Associate Dean of Nursing, she provides academic and administrative leadership, overseeing curriculum development, faculty support, accreditation standards and overall program quality.

Her focus is always on people. She ensures students receive a rigorous education that prepares them for professional practice while also serving as a bridge between faculty, staff and students.

鈥淚 support and guide students by being accessible.鈥 She continued, 鈥淚 maintain open communication channels for students to discuss academic or personal challenges that may affect their success.鈥

That commitment to support shines through in moments big and small. When a nursing student once confided in the associate dean about financial hardships, explaining that she did not qualify for aid, Dorsey began searching for alternative solutions.

After some time, she connected the student with the San Damiano Sponsorship, which allowed the girl to remain enrolled and continue her nursing degree.

For Dorsey, success is not measured in titles or recognition, but in the growth of her students. By walking alongside them with humility and encouragement, she ensures they graduate not only as skilled nurses but also as resilient, mission-driven professionals ready to make a difference.
