When Zaynah Abdul-Aziz began her journey at FranU, she expected to find a challenging academic environment. What she didn鈥檛 expect was the deep sense of community that would transform her as a student and as a person.
鈥淏eing so connected to students, faculty and administrators helped shape me into someone I never imagined I could become.鈥
That sense of connection quickly became the foundation of her FranU experience.
鈥淲e鈥檙e given access to resources, mentorship and leadership opportunities that push us to reach our potential,鈥 she continued. 鈥淔ranU lives out its mission through relationships, service and genuine care, and I have experienced that firsthand.鈥
Now, Abdul-Aziz seeks to offer that same sense of belonging and growth to others.
Set to graduate in May 2026, she came to FranU ready to challenge her mind and enrich her spirit. With dreams of becoming a Physician Assistant who serves others, she found her place in the Biology Pre-Professional Human Medicine (HMED) Program.
鈥淔ranU鈥檚 Biology Pre-Med curriculum is built with the intention to prepare students for careers in healthcare through rigorous academics and hands-on learning. I wanted a program that not only challenged me academically but also shaped my character and compassion for others, and this program does just that.鈥
Her first step into leadership started as Vice President of Beta Sigma Mu, FranU鈥檚 Biology Club, where she supported her peers through mentorship and academic encouragement. Wanting to make a broader impact, she discovered the Student Government Association (SGA).
鈥淚 was drawn to how SGA constantly served the student body through events, advocacy and initiatives that truly made a difference,鈥 Abdul-Aziz recalled. 鈥淥ne day, I noticed the SGA advisors in the Learning Resource Center, introduced myself, explained my desire to serve and asked if there were opportunities for me to get involved.鈥
Starting as a Senator, she quickly became a driving force within the organization. Her commitment and initiative did not go unnoticed, and she now serves as Vice President of the SGA.
In her role, she focuses on strengthening communication across campus, ensuring students feel seen and heard.
鈥淟eadership at FranU is not just about holding a title; it's about uplifting others and making decisions that reflect care for the whole student body.鈥
One of her favorite FranU memories came from planning last year鈥檚 Oktoberfest.
鈥淚t was incredibly rewarding to see everything come together after all the planning and effort that went on behind the scenes,鈥 she explained. 鈥淲atching students enjoy the event, seeing the campus filled with energy and knowing I had a hand in creating that experience made it memorable.鈥
Through every class, meeting and event, Abdul-Aziz embodies FranU鈥檚 mission to form not just capable professionals, but compassionate leaders.
鈥淭his University is more than an academic institution; it鈥檚 a formation ground for compassionate leaders. FranU doesn鈥檛 just prepare you for a career; it prepares you to live with purpose, integrity and service to others, which is exactly what the healthcare field and the world need.鈥
